The Sculpture Garden is adorned with four pergolas. A pergola is a garden structure consisting of vertical posts topped by cross beams and an open lattice framework. The stone columns of these pergolas support custom milled beams of Bolivian Ipe, also known as Ironwood because of its extreme durability. Woody vines and other plants that grow on the lattices form shaded walkways and sitting areas, both of which are necessary in the South Florida climate.
