Edward Fenno Hoffman III
Reaching, 1963, bronze
Gift of the Trout family in memory of Margaret Richardson Trout
Collection of The Society of the Four Arts, 1990.1
Reaching is a whimsical sculpture of a mother grasping her child as the child reaches down to touch a frog perched on a lily pad. Artist Edward Fenno Hoffman III originally intended to place the frog and lily pad in a body of water to create the illusion that they are resting on the surface of a calm pond.
