The Sculpture Garden opened to the public in 1980, and Youth and Innocence were among the earliest sculptures installed in the space. Created by Mexican artist Jose Antonio Villalobos, both of these sculptures are cast in bronze. Bronze is an alloy composed of copper and tin, and most modern bronze contains 88% copper and 12% tin.
