The Bond, 2010, bronze
Gift of Zita Hawley Wright
Collection of The Society of the Four Arts, 2010.1
The Bond is a life-size sculpture depicting a dolphin and her calf. Created by father and son team Willian H. and David H. Turner, the realistic piece illustrates the strong social bonds dolphins form while living in pods. The Turners share a passion for capturing the beauty and motion of animals in bronze sculpture. Born and raised on the eastern shore of Virginia, they find inspiration in the rich wildlife of the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.
