Continue walking south and on your right you'll see "ArcWing" (2000) by David Hayes (1931-2013). This contemporary sculpture is made of welded, painted steel and is on loan from the Estate of David Hayes.
David Hayes, born in Hartford, Connecticut, began his studies at University of Notre Dame and later received an M.F.A. degree from Indiana University where he studied with the great American Abstract-Expressionist sculptor, David Smith. An award- winning artist, Hayes is best known for his abstract, brightly colored free form sculptures. Although often inspired by nature, Hayes leaves the meaning of his sculptures up to the imagination of the viewer.
