“The Bond”

In the center of the Upper Terrace fountain, you will see a bottlenose dolphin sculpture titled “The Bond” by American sculptor David H. Turner (b. 1961). This Chesapeake Bay artist is nationally known for his iconic sculpture of the diverse wildlife of this eastern shore. "The Bond" depicts the close familial relationship that exists between a calf and its mother. Since Grecian time dolphins have represented swiftness, diligence and love. The sculpture was a gift from Zita Hawley Wright.
